Cinnamon Rolls Recipe – Easy and Tasty

Excited for Cinnamon Rolls Recipe!

One of my favorite things to do is BAKE! I find it therapeutic for the soul.  My family loves it when I get in the “baking mood” because they get to be my guinea pigs when it comes to trying new recipes. Cinnamon rolls have always been something I’ve wanted to try to bake. The taste of Cinnamon rolls is sure to please anyone. The fluffy dough mixed with the taste of cinnamon, and a warm glaze drizzled on the top. Add a nice tall glass of cold milk, or a warm coffee and you are set!

Nervous About Them Turning Out

So the other day I got brave and made some homemade cinnamon rolls! Of course the family didn’t object, why would they? To be honest I was a little nervous about this one. I was sure I’d do something to mess up the recipe and they would turn out like hockey pucks. But that wasn’t the case at all, they turned out perfect. If you could have seen the look on my husbands face as he took his first bite! “WOW,” was all he could say. My son told me they were better than Cinnabon. Could they really be that good, or was he just trying to get seconds? Either way, I’ll take a compliment like that any day. I got two thumbs up from my daughter! Friends have already put in their requests for a batch the next time I bake some.

Very Versatile Recipe

I think I lucked out when I found this recipe from Live Craft Eat. Not only is this a super easy recipe to follow, but it also gives you the option to be able to refrigerate these over night to bake in the morning, or to freeze and bake on a later day. Holidays just got easier at my house! From start to finish these cinnamon rolls were done in 1 hour. And if you like to bake as much as I do, you should have most, if not all of these ingredients already in your pantry. No need for a special trip to get crazy ingredients at the store. Once you try this recipe, you’ll be hooked.

This recipe is in my sweet treats playlist. Check it out here.

  1. To make the dough:
  2. Mix together 1¾ cups flour, yeast, and salt in a large bowl. Set aside.
  3. In a small saucepan, heat the milk, water, butter, and sugar over med-low heat until it reaches 120-130F, stirring constantly. Pour into the dry mixture and beat until smooth.
  4. Add egg and ½ cup flour and beat for another 2 minutes.
  5. Gradually add enough flour to make a soft dough (probably cup or two).
  6. Knead dough, cover and rest for 20 min. (let double in size)
  7. Once dough has risen, roll out into a rectangle, approx ¼" thick. Spread melted butter over top, and sprinkle filling over top, leaving a ½" border all the way around.
  8. To make the filling:
  9. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon. (double if needed to cover area.)
  10. Roll the dough as for a jelly roll, keeping it as tight as possible. When you get to the end, pinch the dough along the top and cut into 12 rounds, using a knife or bench scraper.
  11. Place rolls on a greased pan and bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly, then top with glaze.
  12. To make glaze:
  13. Combine powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, and hot water and stir until you reach a smooth consistency.
Recipe Notes

I doubled the recipe for the filling, which was the perfect amount for my cinnamon rolls. I like my rolls on the really sweet side. Put as much or as little of the filling in as you would like. If you are worried about having enough, I would double the filling to be on the safe side.

I also softened the butter that I put in the glaze, so it would be smooth.
