How to Make Homemade Hoagie Rolls
Homemade Hoagie Rolls are Better
As a family we try not to eat out as much as possible. Of course, life gets busy and sometimes it just happens. If my daughter had it her way, we would eat SUBWAY all the time. That’s where this recipe comes in handy. Homemade hoagie rolls, oh…the possibilities! For starters, making them homemade is definitely cheaper than buying a package of rolls from the store. Not to mention that these are FRESH! Oh, so fresh! Nothing beats fresh breads out of the oven and these hoagie rolls are no exception!
Origins of the Recipe
When I have the time, I enjoy making homemade stuff because it teaches my kids that you don’t HAVE to go out to get food. I found this recipe from Stay at Home Chef and I knew it was going to be a huge hit with my family. Now whenever my daughter is craving her subway sandwich, I will be making a batch of these homemade hoagie rolls.
Trying out the Recipe
The other night, I made these and bought all the toppings to make our favorite “subway” sandwich. They tasted better than I had imagined. The kids and I liked the taste better than subway bread. I thought it compared more to the taste of Jimmy Johns bread, with a little more density to it. The Spicy Italian is our go to sandwich from Subway. I am very much a creature of habit, and order this every time, with the same toppings….always. Salami, pepperoni, cheese, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, olives, mayo, mustard, salt and pepper. There you have it, my version of the spicy italian. After “making” my sandwich, I took a big bite. It tasted just like a subway sandwich, but with better bread! Is that really possible? Absolutely, with this recipe!
I just might have to come out of my comfort zone and make other type of sandwiches. Oh, how exciting! There is no going back to store bought hoagie rolls for this girl. With this homemade hoagie roll recipe you cannot go wrong. The taste is amazing and it is really an easy bread to make!
