Homemade Pretzel Dough – Make Pretzels at Home
Homemade Pretzel Dough to Make Big Pretzels at Home
My Oster Bread Machine does more than just bake bread. So I decided I’d try out the homemade pretzel dough recipe, since I had all of the ingredients on hand. I would think you should be able to make this dough without the use of a bread machine. You will just need to allow time for the dough to rise. The total time from start to finish for the dough to be ready to bake was 1 hour and 30 minutes. Not a long drawn out process.
Make Pretzels Just Like at The Mall
This dough is perfect to make those large pretzels you always want to buy when you go shopping at the mall. Or you can make them into preztel sticks. For a little more of a fancy display for a party or dinner. You can do the preztel sticks around skewers. They can then be pulled off as you eat them.
The fun thing about making these at home, is you can make all sorts of yummy dipping sauces for your pretzels. Here are some of our favorites.
- Spicy mustard dip
- Melted cheese dip
- Sun-dried tomato dip
- Bacon Cheese dip
- Melted chocolate
- Peanut Butter
- Any kind of jam
Really, there are all kinds of dips or sauces you can make for these pretzels.
Keep in mind when you make homemade bread or pretzels, that there aren’t any preservatives in the bread. It’s best if you store them in a lightly sealed plastic bag. Make sure they have cooled before you put them in the bag. Or you will have condensation form from the heat of the bread, and them it will become soggy. Also do not store in the refrigerator as this can cause it to dry out faster. Here is a tip I learned to make the bread stay fresh longer. Add a celery stalk into the bag with the bread or pretzels.
This homemade pretzel dough is so simple to make. Just be careful, you’re family might be requesting for you to make them often. I made a bunch of pretzels and had them waiting for my kids when they got home from school. My kids loved them. Said they made the perfect after school snack.
